NOTES
Jeff Buckley's first studio session.

'Unforgiven' is the initial working title for 'Last Goodbye'. The instruments, lyrics and vocal melody of the song are a bit different.

'Strawberry Street' previously unreleased, originally written in 1988 - happens to be one of the first songs penned by Jeff & the earliest version dates back to his very first recording session 'The Babylon Dungeon Sessions' from Sept '90. Only two known versions exist of this song. The version without vocals from the Babylon Dungeon sessions and the one which was later revisited and recorded in a rehearsal at The Knitting Factory, NY, in May of 1993, with an early try-out combo of bassist Tom Goodkind (of The Washington Squares) and drummer John McNally. That version is included only on the UK release Grace: 10th Anniversary Legacy Edition. It was also released as the flip side to Forget Her on the blue vinyl 7" freebie that came with the last issue of the Grace LP.

available for several years in bootleg form. I have not seen it posted here, so here you go. It is a stellar
soundboard recording, with the only drawback being that the audience sounds like it is in another room (although
the band sounds like it is in your living room with you!).This is a MUST HAVE for any EJ fan (casual or serious).

Sound Quality: A
Good, strong sound all the way through – feel that snare drum hit, and hear the reverb on Ian’s vocals! The hi-hats and cymbals are
very clear, almost too clear. Guitars distort at high levels, but this is a great recording, especially for 1989.

Performance Quality: A
Ian sounds better than at Blackpool and stays in tune nearly all the time. Reni sounds brilliant, especially on Shoot You Down and
Resurrection. Squire makes the odd mistake, but overall is as good as ever. Definitely the best bootleg for fans of the rhythm section.

Much has been said in the last few weeks regarding the discovery of these recordings. The source is believed to be a member of the Hannett family.
It's feared that the bootlegger may well attempt an "official" release of these tapes and so continue to fleece fans of the band. Sources close to ex-members of Joy Division say they are not planning to release them.

The tapes are mostly made up of incidental pieces, studio chatter, false starts, and early mixes of a few well known JD tracks. Regrettable, our bootlegging friend's mastering techniques are not up to standard and some heavy digital hiss reduction on most of the tracks has affected quality.
